Many in South Africa believe that the Guptas stole billions from the country. It was discovered during the State Capture of Inquiry that the Guptas got R5 billion worth of Eskom contracts.
The contracts awarded to the Gupta are believed to be valued R150 billion. The State suffered a loss of R145 billion.
It was discovered that the Gupta family used its influence to get contracts from the government. The contracts would benefit them at the expense of the citizens.
The Guptas who fled the country due to corruption scandals have been used as a scapegoat by the Eskom.
