Bongani Ntanzi, The youngest among the killers of Senzo Meyiwa, has confessed and told the Pretoria High court details of what happened on the night when they killed Senzo in 2014. Ntanzi said the hit was planned at Basotho hostel in Voslorus,
Ntanzi said he was given the smallest gun by his four co-accused, Mncube, Sibiya, Maphisa and Ntuli during the staged robbery and was paid 45 000 rands after the murder. Ntanzi said he was very afraid as it was his first time to commit such a crime and Mncube kept threatening him by pointing a finger at him, as he was visibly shaking with fear.
Ntanzi revealed that Kelly Khumalo, Senzo Meyiwa’s girlfriend, spoke to Mncube twice on the day of the murder.
We left the hostel in a Polo Vivo. When we got to a stop street, Maphisa and Mncube got out of the vehicle and left in another Polo Vivo which was being driven by Simphiwe. who gave Maphisa the guns.
Ntanzi said he entered Khumalo’s house with Mncube. Ntanzi claimed that Senzo retaliated and hit Mncube with a chair. It appeared that Senzo was trying to prevent Mncube from taking something that Kelly had pointed out to Mncube.
During the scuffle, Mncube shot Senzo. Ntanzi said he heard the shots ringing out as he was walking out of the house. Ntanzi said as he was walking out he saw Senzo falling.
