Dingaan Thobela And Basetsana Kumalo’s Relationship Back In The Spotlight After His Passing
Following the passing of legendary boxer Dingaan Thobela his relationship with Basetsana Kumalo ia now in the spotlight again.
In her 2019 memoir, Bassie:My Journey Of Hope, Kumalo reflected on the abuse she suffered at the hands of Thobela. Thobela was found dead at his flat in Johannesburg on Monday 29 April after battling an illness.
The former Miss South Africa 1994 once told Power 98.7 that he beat her up and once pulled out a gun and threatened that he would kill her if she left him.
She also revealed that she didn’t open a case against him because she was ashamed. Kumalo is now married to Romeo Kumalo and the two have been together for over 26 years.
It is also reported that Thobela was 28 years old when he started dating a 16 year old Basetsana in 1990. They reportedly broke up three years after she won the Miss South Africa title in 1994.
