Three siblings passed away after consuming meat allegedly laced with rat poison. The incident happened in Ivory Park, Gauteng Province.
The unfortunate incident happened on Tuesday afternoon while their mother was at work.
Their grandmother who was minding them and had prepared food for them took the leftovers and mixed with rat poison. She placed the poisoned food on top of the fridge.
According to the police she left the kids for some time and on return she found out that the children had eaten the poisoned food on top of the fridge.
She only realised that the children were eating poisoned food when they were about to finish. She gave them milk before taking them to the Kaalfontein clinic.
Unfortunately the children died on arrival at the hospital. The deceased were aged six, eight years old and a 16 month old baby.
