ANC Member Mxolisi Kaunda Elected Mayor of eThekwini

South Africa was conducting its local government elections in the past weeks and the African National Congress member Mxolisi Kaunda was re-elected as Mayor of eThekwini Metro.

In KwaZuluNatal Province an ANC stronghold, the Party lost Newcastle, and many parts of KZN rural including Nongoma and Mvoti to Inkatha Freedom Party.

ANC also lost in Gauteng Province where DA’s Vasco da Gama was elected as speaker and Pho Phalatse as Mayor. However ANC candidate Eugene Johnson won in Nelson Mandela Bay.
