Gayton Mckenzie was appointed as Minister Of Sports, Arts and Culture from 3 July 2024. He was born in Bloemfontein in the Free State in 1974.
In 2013 he co-founded the Patriotic Alliance and his book, The Choice: The Gayton Mckenzie Story was a national bestseller.
He has also written other books which are best sellers which include The New Testament, A Hustlers Bible, Kill Zuma By An Means Necessary and The Uncomfortable Truth. He is married to Nicollette Jourbert and they tied the knoy in 2003. They have two daughters, Kenya amd Zara.
Mckenzie launched the PA with the help of Kenny Kunene who was once called the King of Sushi. In April 2024, Mckenzie wrote a highly critical open letter to EFF leader Julius Malema accusing him of not being a real revolutionary.
In June 2021, it was reported that he was about to be evicted from his home after failing to repay over R700 000 of a R1, 2 million loan from Nedbank.
He was also caught in possession of a gun in teo separate incidents and was sentenced to 15 years in prison. During his sentence, he showed the kind of illegal activities prison wardens were carrying out such as supplying hard substances and alcohol and even giving prisoners a loaded pistol to use in an escape.
This was shown on television and he was let out of prison early.
