SABC NEWS reported that, Dr Blade Nzimande is finally stepping down as General Secretary after leading the South African Communist Party for 24 years.

Nzimande said he was leaving a stronger, bigger, and coherent SACP.

The Party has been criticised for piggy-backing on the ANC ticket for government positions. Blade Nzimande and other top officials are in government positions.

He added that the Party faces a number of challenges, but has survived some of it’s former leaders and members trying to liquidate the SACP.
