On Thursday Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula appeared in the Magistrate’s court where she was officially charged with 12 counts of corruption and money laundering based on allegations that she allegedly took bribes from a service provider while she was the defence minister.

Mapisa-Nqakula resigned from her position as National Assembly Speaker and as MP amid the corruption scandal after losing her bid to interdict and stop her arrest. Former Higher Education and Training Deputy minister Mduduzi Manama showed his support when he wrote, “Umzali uyohlezi engumzali.

The love that one has for a parent cannot change just because an unpleasant wind is blowing towards her direction at that particular moment. In the end, the court will make a determination on her fate and even then, my love for her as a mother would have not diminished. If you dare comment negatively, without comprehending the context of my message, I will block you. Angibhedelwa ke mina.”
