A South African soldier who was killed in Mozambique during an ambush by Islamic insurgency was buried this afternoon in the Free state.

Corporal Teboho Radebe (31), was killed in Chai village after soldiers who survived a first attack were ambushed in a second attack while awaiting to be airlifted.

His superiors say he was due for a promotion from Corporal to Sergeant this year.

He is survived by his wife, three children, sister and a brother.
