South Africa’s last white President F.W. De Klerk passed away today after succumbing to cancer. He was aged 85 and he is survived by his wife Elita, their two children and grandchildren.

De Klerk will be remembered for ushering in South Africa’s democracy and ending Apartheid. His Foundation revealed that F.W De Klerk died peacefully at his home in Cape Town.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has since sent his condolences on his behalf and the government’s behalf to the late President’s widow Elita and the De Klerk family.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, our deepest condolences to Elita De Klerk and the De Klerk family.
