Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has spoken against the looting and violence which originated from KwaZuluNatal following the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma.

Buthelezi commended the people of Phoenix for protecting their properties and for not partaking in the protests. He said such violence was against democracy and the wishes of those who went to war.

He added that anyone threatening democracy must be dealt with accordingly. His comments angered many especially those from the Zulu nation.

A total of 276 people lost their lives ever since violence started in KwaZuluNatal and Gauteng Provinces. Shops were looted and trucks carrying goods were burnt down.
