It is being reported that Gauteng has instructed the state’s lawyers to take legal action against Pretoria News editor Piet Rampedi who broke the story of the Tembisa decuplets.

They also want to sue the Independent Media group over allegations that the administration and its hospitals covered up media negligence over the alleged birth of the Tembisa decuplets.

Thabo Masebe, the government spokesperson said it had not been established that Gosiame Sithole was ever pregnant.

Pretoria News broke a story by Piet Rampedi where he alleged that Gosiame Sithole had broken world records by giving birth to ten babies.

The Gauteng Health Department said there was no record of the decuplets being born in any of their provincial hospitals. This led to the public questioning the existence of the babies.

People had started donating to the family and Mzansi was planning a national baby shower for the decuplets.

Piet Rampedi and Independent Media group accused the Gauteng provincial government of covering up possible negligence. They said the decuplets were born at Steve Biko Academic Hospital.

They said the department had to account for what had happened to the decuplets. Thus according to Masebe the government is waging a lawsuit against Rampedi and the Independent Media group over false accusations.
