The star newspaper reports that Joburg Metro police officers and unions are up in arms after scores of officers were made to escort the body of the mother of acting police chief, Angie Mokasi, from the undertaker to Soweto and be at the burial for the whole day.

JMPD are calling this an unprecedented show of authority and abuse of power.

30 patrol vehicles , six highway vehicles four motorbikes escorted the family to and from the burial, while police in full uniform were deployed at the funeral.

On the day, many areas of Johannesburg were left vulnerable.
