South Africa is fighting all kinds of wars from racism, melting economy to Gender Based Violence. Women are violated and killed on a daily basis.
A tweep suggested that women pray away GBV. The tweep also suggested a five day fast from the 21st to the 25th of September.
This Twitter user had good intentions but it seemed to many like she was saying it’s women who are in the wrong and that they need to change behaviour in order to stop Gender Based Violence.
Women disagreed with this method of fighting GBV. Actress Rami Chuene was one of those who disagreed.
She responded by saying, “No. No amount of Esther, Ruth, Naomi, Sarah and Mary not even the badasses Delilah, Sapphira, Jezebel and Mother of Deception, Eve will get me participating in this.”
She added,” Everything has been taken away from women, Everything. How then are we okay to take even the nothing that’s left.”
