A couple of South African celebrities are practicing as Sangomas. Here is a list of ten celebrities who have embraced their ancestral calling.

The Queen actress Dineo Langa got married in 2019 to Solo Langa. Surprisingly both of them revealed that they are Sangomas and have accepted their ancestral calling. Dineo said she found out after consulting another Sangoma.

Singer-rapper Boity Thulo accepted her calling and became a Sangoma back in 2016. However she said she remained a Christian as well. Actress Letoya Makhene went to training at the age of 19. She also runs a traditional healing practice in Johannesburg.

Rapper Gigi Lamayne came out as a Sangoma in 2020. She sent social media into a frenzy when she posted a picture on Instagram wearing an attire worn by Sangomas. Singer Kelly Khumalo accepted her ancestral calling back in 2018.

Uzalo actress Dawn Thandeka King said she found out that she has a calling in 2008 after she was involved in a car accident. She started walking again after becoming a Sangoma. Another Uzalo actress Baby Cele said she knew she was a Sangoma at the age of 10 and accepted the calling in 2004.

Skeem Saam actress Shoki Mmola is a practicing Sangoma. She was registered in 2019 after her divorce. Rhythm City actress Noninzi Williams has been practicing as a Sangoma for several years and she said it was different from being a Witch Doctor.

Lastly Skeem Saam actor Bongani Masondo started practicing as a Sangoma in 2011 after going to an initiation school. He asked the ancestors to put the practice on hold so that he could focus on acting.
