The Sunday times newspaper reports that Nomabasa Ntsondwa-Ndhlovu has told an investigation that speaker of the South Africa parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqqakula asked her for large amounts of money which she paid in cash between November 2016 and July 2019.

Nomabasa said Nosiviwe used the codeword “wigs”, medicine or snuff when requesting for cash.

Nomabasa is the wife of Major General Noel Ndhlovu and runs the defence contractor, Umkhombe Marine which offered logistics services to the South African military during African missions.

According to docuiments leaked from the secret investigation, Nomabasa said she paid Nosiviwe the following amounts:

November 2016 R300 000 paid through the late Dr Sam Gulube which Nosiviwe needed for her family trip to east London. On July 2017 – $200 000 cash was withdrawn at Bruma FNB and handed to Nomapisa’s home. On November 2017, An amount of R150 000 was paid from Nomabasa’ home which was needed for a nurse who was looking after Nosiviwe’s father. On September 2017, an amount of R400 000 was paid to Nosiviwe through the late Dr Sampaid to Gulube. On September 2018 and amount of R150 000 that was delivered at Waterkloof in foreign currency to Nosiviwe.

In February 6 2019 an amount of R300 000 was delivered at the S.A.D.N.F VIP area at O.R Tambo. At this meeting, Nosiviwe shared a document from an S.A.N.D.F investigation with Nomabasa. In April 2019, Nosiviwe requested an amount of R400 000 which was handed to her in cash.
