Mpho Phalatse Out -Dada Morero Elected As New Joburg Mayor

Councillors in the City of Johannesburg have voted to have a motion of no confidence against Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse tabled and voted on.

Of the 270 councillors in council 139 councillors voted to have the motion tabled and voted on.

The City of Johannesburg has a new Mayor, Dada Morero has been elected unopposed and was the only candidate nominated.

Mpho Phalatse was removed from the post after 139 members voted for her removal this morning during a special council sitting.

Meanwhile, Mpho Phalatse’s application to stop the motion of no confidence was struck off the court role with costs.
