Protesters gathered outside the Protea Glen Magistrate’s court today where Flavio Hlabangwane appeared for the second for the alleged murder of his girlfriend.
They want Hlabangwane to remain behind bars until he goes on trial. The 26 year old man is accused of murdering his alleged girlfriend and storing her body parts in a fridge.
It is believed that the deceased was his relative as well as his girlfriend. The matter will return to court on the 30th of November 2021.
Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane, revealed that the accused is detained at the hospital section of the Johannesburg Correctional Services.
She said today was the second attempt by the accused to try to take his own life. She said the first one was on the day of his arrest when he tried to cut his wrists.
Mjonondwane went on to say the accused overdosed on the medication that he was given at hospital today.
