There are reports that Skeem Saam actor Eric Macheru was involved in a car accident. The actor is popularly known as Leeto Maputla, a role he plays on the SABC 1 TV series.
A woman on Twitter claimed that the actor was drunk when he hit another car leaving the passenger with injuries. She said when he tried escaping from the accident scene the actor hit her car.
She added that even today Eric Macheru is refusing to cooperate with the insurance company that paid for her car to be fixed.
South African celebrities have been arrested for drinking and driving. Some of these celebrities include actress Khanya Mkhangisa, Nay Maps and Cornet Mamabolo.
Singer and television presenter Jub Jub was arrested some years back after he killed school children while driving under the influence.
