An 11 year old school girl was kidnapped on Wednesday morning outside the EP Bauman Primary School in Mayfair Johannesburg at around 7am today.
The girl was abducted at gun point by four men who were armed with AK47s. The children were lining up outside the school gate to be sanitised when the two men called her to their car.
They sped away with the girl in a Toyota Yaris whose registration plates came back as fake. It is alleged that the girl is the daughter of wealthy foreign national with hotel businesses. The incident left other learners traumatised.
The mother of the girl was called by the kidnappers who told her not to tell the police or the media. The kidnapping task team are with the mother while teachers and school children are receiving counselling from social workers.
Payanza Lesufi, the Gauteng Education MEC said he is deeply concerned about the kidnapping. Police investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding this matter.
About three weeks ago four Moti brothers were kidnapped in Limpopo. The boys aged between 11 and 15 have since been reunited with their parents, they also came from a wealthy family with businesses in mining.
