Media personality Somizi Mhlongo was scheduled to make an appearance as a guest Chef at the reopening of Garwe restaurant in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare on the 4th of November 2021.

Unfortunately for him, Church leaders in Zimbabwe wrote a letter blocking Somizi’s entry into Zimbabwe because he is openly gay.

In solidarity with her friend, Kelly Khumalo who had been scheduled to replace Somizi, snubbed the event. Twitter was divided with South Africans calling for Zimbabweans to exit South Africa.

Somizi revealed in a video that he is lucky to be a citizen of South Africa where the Constitution allows everyone to be themselves. He said Zimbabweans should keep their country where their rights are suppressed.

Patriotic Alliance leader Kenny Kunene has called for the South African government to eject illegal Zimbabweans out of South Africa the same way Somizi Mhlongo was rejected by Zimbabwe.

He said the South African government should put South Africans first. Kunene referenced Somizi’s incident as a wake-up call for action. He said the country should not be apologetic about illegal Zimbabweans.

Kunene said the Constitution of South Africa should represent the interests of the local citizens before foreigners outnumbered the indigenous people of the country.
