Popular celebrity and singer, Kelly Khumalo, has reportedly refunded the Zimbabwe restaurant, Garwe, that canceled Somizi ‘s booking because he is gay.
A group of religious leaders barred Somizi from entering the country, according to that country’ s laws which state that being gay is a crime.
Kelly’s manager, Kgothatso Tsotetsi told the City Press newspaper that Kelly was not aware that she was replacing Somizi when Garwe made the booking.
Kelly turned back when she was at the OR International airport, just before boarding the plane to Harare.
Tsotetsi confirmed that Kelly refunded the full booking fee.
Media reports in Zimbabwe indicated that Somizi was paid 30% after his appearance was canceled.
