The Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe has taken a stand to ban Somizi Mhlongo from entering Zimbabwe. The council asked the government to stop Somizi from coming to Zimbabwe because he is gay.

Choreographer Somizi Mhlongo was scheduled to appear as the guest chef at the reopening of Garwe restaurant in Harare. The restaurant is one of the most iconic in the country and has hosted big international acts including Nigerian P Square.

American singer Sean Paul as well as Bric n Lace have all been at the restaurant. The restaurant was closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The restaurant is set to reopen and has set the date for the 4th of November.

His invitation has caused a lot of controversy in Zimbabwe. The main issue they have is his s_exua_lity, Somizi is openly gay. The church leaders said his presence will distraught the country’s spirituality.

They said allowing Somizi Mhlongo to enter Zimbabwe will send messages that the country has accepted homos-exu-ality and they are not ready to allow such influence on their children.

Zimbabwe is one of the countries in Africa which does not allow gay relationships and such relationships are considered an act of crime.
