Shauwn Mkhize and Sbu Mpisane reportedly bought the house in the mid 1990s and it is located in La Lucia, Durban. In 2008 it was valued around R17 million and by 2013 it was valued at R25 million.
The property has a security system that is active at all times of the day and night. In the 2000s the family decided to expand the mansion by buying two adjoining properties.
By 2007, MamMkhize made the property bigger by spending R3.5 million by further expanding her massive mansion. Part of the house is used as a showroom for the family’s expensive cars.
Among the cars on display at the showroom is a Porsche Turbo, Ferrari and an Aston Martin amongst various others.
In 2014, they spent R2.9 million to acquire another property close to theirs and they spent another R2 million to build a teenage pad for their son Andile Mpisane.
Shauwn Mkhize’s family owns several mansions including the one in Sandton valued at more than R20 million.
