Duduzane Zuma spoke live on McG’s YouTube Chanel about his love life, business and politics.
Below are the key points from the interview.
1. Duduzane says he remembers the girl who broke his virginity but he does not know where she is.
2. Duduzane revealed that he was born in Maputo.
3. He attended the international school in Maputo and also empangeni High School and Sacred Heart.
4. Duduzane says he attended Groom ridge Primary School in Zimbabwe.
5. For the most part of his childhood up to his early teens he was in Mozambique.
6. He realised that his father was famous when he was in the ANC young pioneers.
7. There were videos that were shared around the world of Protests and struggle icons.
8. Duduzane said he saw his father in some of the footage in the mid 80s.
9. He says Zuma was never there but was always there. He never disappeared for long.
10. His mother was around all the time.
11. She taught him strong life lessons.
12. Famous people used to come to their house. Some of them Ministers and former presidents.
13. The most famous person who baby sat him was Dr Matthew’s Phosa and Judge Alby Sacks. The judge used to live down the road from the Zuma’s in Maputo.
14. The judge’s arm was blown up in a car bomb in Maputo.
15. Duduzane said he grew up with a lot of siblings.
16. He said he does not consider himself to be Zuma’s favourite son. He said his late younger brother was Zuma’s favourite.
17. Duduzane said he took the business route because he did not want to depend on his father’s success. He wanted to build his own success.
18. Duduzane said the grind is pre-determined by the hunger. He said he hasn’t regretted going into business.
19. He said he is inspired by people who have done well in Africa.
20. There is a dark side of being the son of Zuma. The journey that Zuma has gone through has included a lot of persecution.
21. Duduzane says since 1996, Zuma is written about badly in the media. He has had situations where he is having dinner when someone brings up Zuma in a bad light.
22. For a long period, many people used to say the Zuma’s are spending tax payers money, but that’s not true. He decided to go private business to avoid people saying this about him.
23. Duduzane said there has been some great successes and also many down times but now he is now in charge of his journey.
24. Duduzane says when he can assist he does, but he knows how to read people who come to him opportunitsically.
25. Duduzane says he has friends. He knows someone is a true friend because because when his father was in trouble many friends disappeared. Those who have stayed are the true friends.
26. Duduzane says he is a married man and he does vetting before doing business with people.
27. Duduzane met his wife at a mutual friend ‘s cousin’ s place.
28. He says before he met his wife, he had his heart broken and he was not dating anyone.
29. Duduzane said he married when he was 33. He said he decided to settle down and start a family and have kids and have a homely situation. He didn’t want to be the old man who is in his 60s and trying to live his life as of he was in his 30s.
30. Duduzane says he is not sure if he would become a Polygamist. He will see..
31. Duduzane says he got the funds to relocate to Dubai from businesses.
32. Duduzane said he left South Africa for Dubai after being forced by circumstances and had to come up with a plan B.
33. Duduzane says the Guptas are wonderful people and Tony is his favorite.
34. He said he remembers how he met the Guptas. He was attracted to the Guptas because of their outlook to life.
35. Duduzane Zuma says Thuli Phongolo is a beautiful girl but he has never met her and he is not dating her.
36. Duduzane says he does not charge blesses and slay Queens.
37. On Julius Malema, Duduzane says Malema is a great guy and he only met him once in 2010/2011 and they have never spoke. He says Malema has put himself in a position where has put himself out there. He says he does not believe in sowing racial division. Everyone should work together.
38. South Africans need to acknowledge the issues, until there is a strong middle class and everyone is doing well.
39. On Hip Hop, Duduzane says there is a lot of talent in South Africa.
40. Zuma Introduced the Chairman of the DMCC in Dubai. Ahmed Ben Sulayem (42) on the call. He joined the DMCC when he was 22.
41. DMCC deals with Diamond, Gold and tea and contributes 10% to Dubai ‘s GDP.
42. DMCC re-exports 60% of their products including tea.
43. 19 years ago the focus was Africa and connect to the Indian trade.
44. Corby Bryant set up his company to Amani.
45. He says he likes Duduzane Zuma’ s human side.
46. Duduzane says Dubai has given young people an opportunity to get involved.
47. Duduzane said young people can drive South Africa to the next level.
48. Duduzane said he will run for president in 2024. He wants to change the rules of doing business.
49. Duduzane says many politicians in South Africa are career politicians and have never ran their own businesses. They are out of touch and they don’t walk on the ground.
50. Duduzane says when it’s all said and done, he wants to be remembered as a game changer.
