Vhudi Mamphwe has told the Sowetan the real meaning of his song, My Yoki Yoki.
The 20-year-old aspiring musician from Limpopo explained that My Yoki Yoki derives from “my yonk’into”, meaning my everything.
He said he was trying to impress someone when he wrote the song although he didn’t get the girl, but she was very excited about the song.
The mechanical engineering student traces his earliest memory of singing to grade 6.

He also revealed that he auditioned because he wanted to expose his talent.
Mamphwe said he was overwhelmed by the love he received after his performance.
