You Magazine reports that a Benoni woman and her husband have been arrested after they murdered and burnt her sister who was terminally ill with cervical cancer.
Debbie Venter, (52) who was diagnosed with Stage 4 cervical cancer in 2019, was murdered by her sister Danieta Van Rhyn (39) and Danieta’s husband, Gert Van Rhyn (39).
Debbie’s burnt body was found bound in a drain, with her hands tied to her back, and her mouth gagged.
Police indicated that the late Debbie had received a huge payment from her medical policy and investigations indicated that an amounts of R80 000 was transferred to Gert’s bank account.

Motive
Danieta and Gert are reported to have hit hard times, with Danieta losing her job as a financial advisor and Gert losing his job at Transnet, where he was a safety inspector.
The couple were now reported to be living in their car.
