Former president Jacob Zuma and his co-accused French arms company Thales are expected in court today.

The trial is in connection with fraud, racketeering and money laundering charges stemming from an arms deal negotiated by the South African government in the late 1990s.

Here is what to expect on Zuma’s trial:

  •  Zuma opening his argument against NPA of backtracking parties to not appear before the court.
  • Zuma insisting on a physical appearance in court.
  •  Zuma pushing for a speedy trial, that the case must be heard this year.
  •  The NPA responding to queries about the application and its readiness to proceed with the trial.
