Thuli Madonsela Supports the Cancellation of Jacob Zuma’s Prison Sentence

The former president of South Africa Jacob Zuma is not going back to prison. Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is in support of the remission of Jacob Zuma’s sentence.

The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Honourable Ronald Lamola has granted Zuma a remission to his 15-months jail sentence of 2021.

Zuma was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment by the Constitutional Court for contempt of Court. He had failed to comply with the ruling compelling him to appear before the Zondo Commission.

Lamola said that Zuma was one of the thousands of inmates who have benefitted from remissions of sentences as his department seeks to alleviate overcrowding in South African prisons.
