Musical duo  Blaq Diamond won an interdict to stop recording label Ambitiouz Entertainment from deleting its music from YouTube.

The order was issued by the Johannesburg High Court barring Ambitiouz from taking down Blaq Diamond’s music from all the other musical streaming platforms.

The duo launched an urgent court application in October 2022 regarding their hit song Qoma. Ambitiouz then instructed YouTube to to take down the the group’s music following a fallout.

Ambitioquz claimed copyright infringement against Blaq Diamond whose real names are Ndumiso Mdletshe and Siphelele Dunywa.

Jade Naidoo from FHSN Attorneys celebrated Blaq Diamond’s win saying it was a win for all the other independent artists aswell who have been exploited.

The High Court ruled against the removal of music from YouTube saying it was unlawful. Ambitiouz was then ordered to pay the costs of application including the costs of two counsel.
