The Power utility Eskom has set out plans to buy atleast 1 000 megawatts of power from private suppliers.

The first contract is expected to be signed this week.

This follows the deepening energy crisis which forced President Cyril Ramaphosa to cut his international trip shot.

Eskom has been struggling to supply power constantly to the South African citizens and businesses.
