South Africa Formally Applied to UAE Government for Gupta Extradition

National Director of Public Prosecutions Shamila Batohi has told the media that South Africa has formally applied to the United Arab Emirates government for the extradition of the Guptas.

She said the application was submitted in both English and Arabic and that it addresses the general requirements for extradition which if met would allow the extradition to be granted.

A multi-disciplinary team within the National Prosecuting Authority led the legal aspects of the process.

The Gupta brothers are being accused of State Capture, money laundering and corruption in South Africa.
