ANC supporters came in numbers at the King Zwelithini stadium in Umlazi, South of Durban for eThekwini region Siyabonga Rally.
ANC member Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and KwaZuluNatal Premier who is also ANC chairperson in the Province Sihle Zikalala, were amongst those who addressed the gathering.
MK Veterans entertained guests with their revolutionary songs. The son of former President Jacob Zuma, Duduzane Zuma also graced the event.
Duduzane Zuma who will be contesting for the ANC presidency in 2022 showed up at the event flanked by his body guards. Zuma still commands a lot of support from the province.
Cooperative government and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma said the party worked with various communities in selecting candidates for the local government elections.
It is not clear if Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma is going to contest for the ANC presidency again after she lost to Cyril Ramaphosa in 2017.
