Gauteng ANC Deputy Chairperson and Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi apologised on behalf of the African National Congress (ANC) for the treatment of ANC MPL Jacqui Mofokeng.
Panyaza Lesufi said Mofokeng was overlooked by the organisation she served and loved. Lesufi was speaking at the funeral service of Mofokeng and her daughter, Thato in Centurion, South of Pretoria.
Jacqui Mofokeng died at her home last Thursday, just a day after her daughter succumbed to Covid-19.
Mofokeng and her daughter had both tested positive for Covid-19. Friday would have been her last day in isolation. She was described as an advocate for the rights of women and children.
Her daughter’s remains will be cremated on Wednesday. She survived by her mother, her brother and sister.
