Pastor and singer Khaya Mthethwa found himself on the receiving end of social media backlash recently.

Mthethwa took to social media to ask what would happen if Cyril Ramaphosa had let Jacob Zuma do King Goodwill Zwelithini’s eulogy.

Mthethwa asked: “Would it have been wrong if CR asked JZ to do the eulogy? #askingforafriend #Zwelithini”

Social media users were not impressed by his question and quickly took to his comments section to share their thoughts.

Twitter user Geraldmohlabe said: “Your tweet smells like tribalism. Why would he have done that? You shouldn’t have asked this question in the first place. CR is the president, Zuma is the former president.”

Thabang_one said: “I’m interested in finding out what prompted this question sir. Imagine is the same was said during Mandela funeral that TM should have been asked to eulogise him. However, I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that you might have a reason beyond good enough to suggest that…”

MulisaThovhakal said: “My question is why? The eulogy was well drafted and eloquently delivered.”

Many comments roasted Khaya for his social media post saying its tribalistic.
