South African drivers are the worst in the world. That’s according to UK-based drivers education company, Zutobi, which looked at 56 countries.

It blames drunk driving and not wearing seat belts as the cause for some of the road accidents.

Dr Simon Zwane from the Road Traffic Management Corporation welcomed the report saying it assists in raising awareness and consciousness.

However he said the report was outdated. He agreed that human error accounts for 90 percent of accidents in the country.

He said fatalities per 1000 crashes have come down from 25.9% in 2016 to around 21.3% in 2019, thus he believes it has come down in 2021.
