The Sunday Independent reports that a South African cosmetics company, Conoche Bio-Tech, said they have developed a Coronavirus Cure accidentally while developing a cosmetic product.

The cure is based on a castor oil and has been tested by the University of Pretoria, Stelle Bosch University, North West University and the South Africa Bureau of Standards.

However, the SA government ‘s department of Science and Innovation has refused to use the product, characterizing it as a natural remedy.

The co-founder of the Mpumalanga based company, Bajabukile Conochie, said the cure was proven effective by the CSIR (Centre For Science, Innovation and Research), which recommended human and animal trials in October 2020.

The department did not respond to requests for the clinical trials.

The company has a patent for the active pharmaceutical ingredient that inhibits the growth of SARS-Co V-2 virus which they filed in March 2020.

Conochie said the drug was tested and found to be non-toxic.

She said the drug was also taken to the CSIR to be tested on HIV.
