Kelly Khumalo has slammed criticism aimed at her after she darkened her skin colour in a new music video.
Kelly released the music video for her hit single Empini but the way she appeared got people talking.
The video features a darkened Kelly dressed in ancient Egyptian royal clothing, meant to represent Bastet, the goddess of protection.
Khumalo said she knew that criticism would come and she cannot blame them as a lot has happened where black people are concerned.
She further explained that it is such a shame that people see everything as a threat against black skin colour, even something as simple as art.
Adding, Kelly said she hoped that one day people get to a point where they see beyond skin colour and she also emphasised that Empini is simply art.
