One of the most talented DJ’s in South Africa DJ Shimza joined episode 15 of OnLife Radio to chat about his performance and recording at Robben Island. He is the first person to live stream from Robben Island.
DJ Shimza has been hosting a series of shows during this lockdown. Some of the shows he said were intended at educating people about South Africa’s history and the liberation struggle.
DJ Shimza performed and recorded on Robben Island last week on Nelson Mandela Day. He was dedicating the performance and recording to liberation hero Nelson Mandela.Â
He revealed that he wanted people to know more about Robben Island since it was the place where Nelson Mandela and other South African liberation heroes were jailed.
Shimza said those who missed the live stream last week can catch up on the performance live on MTV Base between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday.
He concluded by saying the gesture was to raise money with Siya Kolisi. All the proceeds will be donated towards helping the most vulnerable families during this Covid-19 pandemic.
