Minister Gwede Mantashe And His Wife Test Positive For Coronavirus

South African Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe and his wife Nolwandle have both tested positive for Covid-19.

This was confirmed by the Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu via a media statement.

According to Mthembu, Mantashe and his wife Nolwandle received their results yesterday confirming that they are positive. They are currently in isolation and working from home.

Gwede Mantashe is the 4th prominent politician to contract the virus. Last week it was reported that Gauteng Premier David Makhura, North West Premier Job Mokgoro and Western Cape Premier Alan Winde all tested positive for Coronavirus.

The Minister has directed all members of his private office in government to also go for testing. On Sunday Gwede Mantashe was at Queen Noloyiso Sandile’s funeral.
