A famous South African actor has been arrested in Polokwane for selling illegal cigarettes.
Selling of cigarettes was banned and is still banned in South Africa as the country battles with Coronavirus.
Members of the Hawks received a tip off about the suspects who were selling illegal cigarettes at a Polokwane taxi rank.
An early morning operation was conducted and five suspects were caught red handed. The cigarettes are said to be worth R12 000. They also had over R9 000 in cash.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate court on charges of contravening lockdown regulations and dealing with illegal cigarettes.
So far the name of the popular actor has not yet been revealed.
