Actress Rami Chuene had a lot to say concerning President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address to the nation about gender based violence.

The President held a press conference to address the nation on GBV. This came after women had voiced their concerns about women abuse and murder at the hands of South African men.

President Ramaphosa partially blamed alcohol consumption for GBV. He said several studies showed clear connections between alcohol abuse and gender based violence.

Rami Chuene disagreed with the President and said men’s violent behaviour can not be explained away by alcohol abuse.

She also advocated for harsher punishment on those found guilty of murdering women as this will end GBV. A lot of people on Twitter agreed with her.
