Some businesses will have to adapt to new technologies post the lockdown era. Disruptive technologies have been there for some time but business did not hasten to adopt them into their operations.

Lebo Gunguluza who is the Group Chairman at GEM Group Africa said Africa was lagging behind on online activities hence something needs to be done.

He gave examples like Amazon and Alibaba as some of the richest online companies thus he urged many South Africans to use their smartphones to manage their businesses.

He added that the South African government must educate the youth on the digital economy. Covid-19 will bring new norms of doing business.

Gunguluza, said the companies need to migrate their businesses from physical stores to online stores. Amazon generates billions of dollars a year from online business.

He advised businesses to fight for the ownership of markets and venture into e-commerce as it gives access to the global markets.
