Jabu Hlongwane has been part of the amazing gospel group Joyous Celebration since its formation back in 1994 following South Africa’s First democratic elections.

The choir Joyous Celebration has enjoyed so much success across South Africa and Africa as a whole, having recorded 23 Albums as of 2019.

The choir was founded by well known gospel artists in South Africa such as Lindelani Mkhize, Jabu Hlongwane and Mthunzi Namba. The band set a new standard as they introduced a contemporary sound to South African gospel music.

The name Joyous Celebration came after their first live performance at Wits Great Hall in Johannesburg in1996. Joyous Celebration 1 was recorded at DownTown Studios in Johannesburg after the success of their very own concert.

Hlongwane went on to release nine solo albums, three of which were recorded live. Jabu Hlongwane’s new album is called Crosspower Experience 3 and it also has a DVD.

Hlongwane worked as a laboratory assistant at Ausaf after matriculating. He enrolled at the University of Zululand for a degree in Education where he established various gospel music groups. Hlongwane persued music professionally while teaching at Esikhawini College.
