Luqobo “Bibo” Makwedini, a 20-year-old South African rugby prop and former schoolboy star, died on July 10, 2026, after suffering a cardiac arrest following a training session with French club AS Béziers Hérault. He was taken to hospital but passed away hours later.
Bibo had joined the club’s academy in 2025 and was seen as a promising talent. He was also known in South Africa for his energetic “Felicia” war cry from his school days.
Tributes have come from his club, Leicester Tigers, the ANC, and many rugby figures. His club described him as a committed and kind member of their family.
