Taxi Boss Victor Molefe Moekeletsi Killed In Midrand Ambush

Two people, including the chairperson of a major local taxi association, were killed in what is believed to be a targeted hit in Marlboro, Johannesburg, on Thursday morning, October 30, 2025.

• Location: The shooting occurred in Marlboro Gardens near the intersection of Viola Road and 4th and 8th Streets.
• Attack: Moekeletsi’s vehicle convoy was reportedly ambushed by gunmen in a white BMW X5. An eyewitness described a high-speed chase followed by gunfire from all sides. The abandoned getaway vehicle was later found with bloodstains inside.
• Injuries: A second bodyguard and an unrelated motorist sustained gunshot wounds and were hospitalized.
• Motive: Police suspect the attack is linked to ongoing taxi violence and turf wars in the area, despite a publicized peace agreement reached just weeks ago in September.
• Investigation: The SAPS provincial taxi violence unit is investigating two counts of murder and multiple counts of attempted murder. No arrests have been made yet.
