Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has publicly engaged Princess Sihle Mdluli, also known as Liphovela laMdluli. The event took place during the 2025 Umhlanga (Reed Dance) Ceremony at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence in Eswatini, the home country of the king’s late mother, Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu.

He used the traditional giya dance to declare his love and commitment to Princess Sihle Mdluli. During the ceremony, the King placed a necklace on Princess Sihle, a gesture that symbolizes his love and intentions.
Princess Sihle Mdluli is of royal descent from the Mdluli clan in Mpumalanga province. Her royal lineage means she will hold the status of “Great Wife” within the Zulu royal family. This is significant because, according to Zulu tradition, a son born to a “Great Wife” would be the potential heir to the throne.
This engagement follows a period of public and legal disputes for the King regarding his other relationships and marital status. His decision to publicly propose to Princess Sihle during such a prominent cultural event is seen as a clear statement of his intentions.
