IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: IRS Forensic Investigations (IRS) has been appointed by the family of the deceased, Mpho Kabasia Mafole (pictured), fondly known to his family and friends as “Kabi,” to conduct an investigation watching brief.
Mpho was appointed as the chief auditor of the @City_Ekurhuleni on 1 April 2025 after spending 15 years at the @AuditorGen_SA.
Mpho was assassinated on 30 June 2025. At the time, he was working on several sensitive audits involving procurement by the City of Ekurhuleni.
Arrests have been made in the investigation, with the most recent court appearance on 2 October 2025; however, the facilitators and those ordering the hit remain at large.
IRS’s instructions from the family are to liaise with the authorities and communicate with the media.
