Yolande Faro, the Tshwane Metro Police Department chief, received a cash gift estimated between R400,000 and R450,000 from unnamed wealthy individuals during a trip to Sun City Resort in February. These claims surfaced during a confidential Tshwane council meeting on July 31, 2025, and are under internal review.
Faro has been given seven to eight days to respond to the allegations and explain why she should not face charges for failing to declare the money.
The alleged cash gift to Yolande Faro and her team of senior officers is said to have occurred during a trip to Sun City Resort, located in the North West Province of South Africa, in February. The allegations were discussed in a confidential Tshwane council meeting in Pretoria, South Africa, on July 31, 2025.
Faro is also being accused of misrepresenting her qualifications at her time of employment.
