Rapper Emtee appeared in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court

Rapper Emtee (real name Mthebeni Ndevu) appeared in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court today, Monday, 13 July 2026, on charges of allegedly breaching a 2023 protection order granted to his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy. The case was postponed to Friday (18 July) while investigations continue.

• Emtee was arrested after handing himself in at Midrand Police Station on 10 June 2026. He spent one night in custody before appearing in court on 11 June.
• He was released on R1,000 bail with strict conditions: no direct or indirect contact with Chinsamy, no social media posts (direct or indirect) about her, and removal of any existing posts. Violating these could lead to re-arrest.
• The allegations stem from an incident on 4 June 2026, when Emtee reportedly entered Chinsamy’s Midrand home unannounced. She was bathing their daughter (their other children were at school), and he allegedly grabbed a knife and made threats.

This is part of a long-running public dispute between the couple (parents to three children), involving mutual allegations of abuse, social media drama, and an ongoing divorce. Emtee has previously claimed Chinsamy assaulted him, while she has denied it and accused him of various issues, including recent child neglect claims (which he referred to as a legal matter).
